Description
SOLD – The microscope measures 17.5 ” ( 44.5 cm) when stood upright and can turn 360 degrees while the column and stand remain fixed; GL’E Turner refers to it as a rare example of a transitional type stand. The two thumb wheels to the circular stage allow the user to move a specimen in an X / Y direction and the top of the stage can be turned 360 degrees. The bulls eye magnifier fitted between the mirror and the stage can be moved up or down the column body to suit the user while viewing.
I managed to bring to focus a diatom slide with ease. All lenses are damage free.
Contained in mahogany case: 15 x 9.75 x 4.25 inches ( 38 x 24.5 x 11 cm ) with accessories as shown. Some repairs to the inside of the case can be seen.
Circa 1820 – 30.
